Hospital Visits
St. Peter Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMHC) participate with Extraordinary Ministers from St. Patrick Parish to bring Holy Communion to Catholic patients at Memorial North Hospital, 4050 Briargate Pkwy, in Colorado Springs, about 12 miles from St. Peter Church.

Training
In order to become an EMHC, you must first be recommended by the parish, then receive appropriate training from the parish, and finally be mandated by the diocese as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion. Then Memorial Hospital requires several hours of training for its volunteers to learn hospital policies and procedures. Volunteers finally obtain/receive a picture badge allowing them access to all areas of the hospital. The ministry head will then provide a tour of Memorial Hospital and answer any questions. You may choose to "shadow" current EMHCs as they make their hospital rounds.
Schedules
EMHCs are scheduled on a monthly basis between the two parishes. Normally, each EMHC will bring Holy Communion to the hospital between 2-5 times a month, depending on requirements and his/her expressed desires.
