Our July topic of “Religious Freedom: An American Perspective" was presented by Lt. Col. (Ret) Paul Baerman. This talk reviews American religious liberty principles, focusing on related Supreme Court cases throughout our nation's history. Playback the recorded talk to hear what's at stake today with the growing misguided concepts of toleration and secularization in American society and government. |
Prayer for Religious Liberty
Almighty God, Father of all nations, For freedom you have set us free in Christ Jesus. We praise you and bless you for the gift of religious liberty, the foundation of human rights, justice, and the common good. Grant to our leaders the wisdom to protect and promote our liberties; By your grace may we have the courage to defend them, for ourselves and for all those who live in this blessed land. We ask this through the intercession of Mary Immaculate, our patroness, And in the name of your Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, with whom you live and reign, one God, for ever and ever. Amen |

Are Christian cults in America on the rise? What is it about our culture today that makes a cult so appealing to so many? What are the behavioral marks of a destructive cult? How do we specifically apply them to various religious cults through the ages? How does that criteria apply to the newest cult that has burst into our world today– the death cult of ISIS? These questions and more were answered by Deacon Rick Bauer in his presentation on “Cults and Consequences.” Deacon Bauer is a nationally recognized expert on cults.

"Christology" presented by Fr. Larry Brennan. "Christology" is the filed of study within Christian theology which deals with Our Lord, Jesus Christ. In its full extent, it comprises the doctrines concerning the person of Christ and his works. A proper understanding of who Jesus Christ is and what he accomplished is crucial for our salvation. Many cults and world religions can claim to believe in Jesus but they do not believe in the Jesus of Sacred Scripture.
