40 Days for Life Spring Campaign
The 'spring' campaign of 40 Days for Life has begun outside Planned Parenthood at Centennial Blvd and Fillmore. It is easy to go out to pray on the sidewalk when it is warm and sunny. It is more difficult when the weather is stormy, windy, snowy, and cold, especially here in Colorado. Did you know MORE BABIES ARE SAVED in bad weather conditions? It's not too late to sign up. Spiritual Adoption Program
On January 22, 1973, the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision was rendered which legalized abortion throughout the entire nine months of pregnancy. Since that time, more than 62 million babies have died by surgical abortion. Did you know a baby dies by surgical abortion about every 37 seconds in the United States? To help stop the anti-life push around the world, the late Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen, years ago, encouraged the Spiritual Adoption of an unborn child. This is done by praying that one particular but unknown child’s life be spared abortion and be allowed to continue to live. Our prayers CAN make a difference between whether a baby will be born or aborted. Our prayers can be a form of spiritual support for both of the parents - that God in His great mercy will grant the parents the courage to imitate the lives of Mary and Joseph. Please share the love of life given to you by the Lord of all life, and join in spiritually adopting a baby this year. The Feast of the Annunciation (March 25 - nine months before Christmas) is a good time to begin. You can find information and prayer cards at the Respect Life cubbie at the north entrance Welcome Center. Name the unborn child you are praying for and do so daily for the following nine months. The power of prayer is great!
The Solemnity of the Annunciation of our Lord - March 25
In modern times, the Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord has taken on special meaning in Respect Life ministry.
Scientific advances have allowed us to confirm that human life begins at conception. This solemnity calls us to reflect
on how we are to care for, protect, and welcome new life, as the Blessed Mother did for the Christ Child. The Solemnity
of the Annunciation also coincides with the anniversary of the papal encyclical Evangelium Vitae (The Gospel of Life).
Written by Pope St. John Paul II, Evangelium Vitae was appropriately given in Rome on this feast- March 25, 1995.
This Church teaching on the value and inviolability of every human life remains an indispensable source of truth
for all people. Please pray for all expectant mothers and fathers that they may lovingly accept the precious gift of life that God has entrusted to their care. If you are expecting a baby, contact Father Gregory for the Blessing for a Child in the Womb.
Walk for Life 2020
Nearly 50 parishioners joined Fr. Gregory on Saturday, June 6, for the two-mile Walk for Life on the Sante Fe Trail. Due to the amazing generosity of our parishioners, Fr. Gregory surpassed his fundraising goal. The volunteers and staff at Life Network/Colorado Springs Pregnancy Center are most appreciative for all the prayers and generous financial support from our St. Peter Family for their ministry in the Pikes Peak area.
