Funeral Mass
We will help you plan each step of the Funeral Mass to ensure the life of your loved one is honored and celebrated in Christ. You may choose to have a vigil and/or a Rosary prayed prior to the Mass. If there is someone who would like to give a eulogy, it should be done at the vigil or the reception and not at the funeral Mass. Livestream is available for a fee.
Please share your interment wishes with us during the funeral planning process and let us know if you will need a deacon to support the interment.
If you would like, we can provide a table in the gathering area to display pictures and other memorabilia of your loved one. You may also bring a guest book and remembrance prayer cards. The funeral home may help you with these.
The St. Peter Martha Ministry can provide a reception after the funeral if you choose. This will be held in the Parish Ministry Center at no cost, but a donation is appreciated.
Funeral Home
Many families ask about choosing a funeral home. We cannot recommend a specific one and know there are many wonderful providers in our area. Please interview many options to find the best fit for your family. The funeral home will help you with burial arrangements for your loved one.
Scripture Readings
For the Funeral Mass, you may select a First Reading, Second Reading and Gospel from the lists below. You may have family members or friends proclaim the First and Second Readings. You may also choose the Gospel to be proclaimed by the priest/deacon. The St. Peter cantor will sing the Responsorial Psalm.
Funeral Readings (United States Conference on Bishops)
Hymns
You may choose four songs for the Funeral Mass, and our music director will place them in the appropriate place within the Mass. St. Peter will provide a cantor and an accompanist. Any other musical arrangements or outside accompanists must be approved by the music director, and must be in compliance with Catholic teaching and liturgical rubrics. We cannot play any prerecorded music.
