Fortnight for Freedom
“We are Catholics. We are Americans. We are proud to be both, grateful for the gift of faith which is ours as Christian disciples, and grateful for the gift of liberty which is ours as American citizens. To be Catholic and American should mean not having to choose one over the other.” Our religious liberty, guaranteed by the Constitution, is more than freedom of worship. Right now we are in the middle of the 5th Annual Fortnight for Freedom –June 21st to July 4th. Please pray during this time for the protection of our first and most cherished freedom which is increasingly coming under assault.  To read more about  protecting our religious liberty in America from the U.S. Catholic Bishops go to:  http://www.usccb.org/issues-and-action/religious-liberty/our-first-most-cherished-liberty.cfm.  St. Thomas More, Patron of Religious Freedom, pray for us!

 MOPS
Come join us! MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) is currently enrolling for our new Fall semester, which begins August 31 st . Whether you are expecting your first baby or you are a seasoned mom of young children, MOPS offers an opportunity to connect with other moms in a faith-based environment. We are also recruiting Mentor Moms, those moms who have seen it all and would like to share their experiences with newer moms. We meet two Wednesday mornings per month from 9-11:00 a.m. in the school building. Childcare will be provided for children aged newborn to 6.  For information and membership costs, contact Liz Wilson 719-351- 3705 liz_newjob@yahoo.com.

Grief Support Group
Beginning June 22, this group offers support to those grieving the loss of a loved one. The group will meet for 13 weeks on Wednesdays from 2 – 4 pm in the large conference room. Sessions will include a video seminar on various grief-related topics, discussion and prayer. Receive comfort, encouragement and support as you journey through this difficult time. Contact Therese Davern at 481-3511 X1130 or therese.davern@petertherock.org to join the group.

Laity Engaging Laity
Vulnerability! Is it a good thing?  Our culture says “no”, but spiritually it is. Laity Engaging Laity (a monthly Diocesan spiritual growth retreat for lay people) will explore the value of vulnerability in a retreat focused on “The Gift of Vulnerability”.   Join us on Sat, July 9, 9:00 am to noon, at Holy Apostles Evangelization Center (Mary’s House) for growth in your spiritual life and relationship with Jesus. Contact Brian Krutka (238-6291) if you have any questions.

Calling All Cooks & Chefs!
In this Year of Mercy, I have an easy way for you to participate in the Corporal Work of Mercy, “Feed the Hungry”.  Join the Meals Ministry program at St. Peters and feel the joy we experience when bringing a meal to a family in need. Every one of us has probably gone through a tough time when we were unable to prepare a meal for ourselves, let alone anyone else. Making a meal for someone or for a family in such a situation is a great work of mercy! The Meals Ministry team receives 3-6 requests each year to provide meals for a short period of time. The more people on the team, the lighter the load for everyone. Won’t you please consider joining this worthwhile endeavor? Contact Madeleine Bucher at 719-761-5275 or madeleine@bucherdesign.com.
