What is Lent?
Lent is the annual season of preparation for the Most Holy of all Seasons in the Church, Easter. It begins on Ash Wednesday and ends on Holy Thursday evening, when the Triduum begins.
  • All healthy Catholics from age 18-59 fast and abstain from meat on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday and abstain from meat all other Fridays during Lent
  • Youth ages 14-17 are also required to abstain from meat on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday
  • When fasting, a person is permitted to eat one full meal, as well as two smaller meals that together are not equal to a full meal.
We are also urged to renew ourselves spiritually throughout Lent by practicing the three main Lenten disciplines: Prayer, Fasting and Almsgiving.

Miracles Abound
Did you know…over 10,000 miracles of healing are attributed to one seemingly ordinary doorman? Did you know…four Jesuits survived the blast of Hiroshima even though they were right at ground zero? Did you know…there are over 100 saints whose bodies are incorruptible after death? It’s time to open our eyes to the miracles God is working all around us.
