Stephen Ministry

Christ Caring for People through People

Dear Parishioners,
Many times someone will say to me, “Thank you for listening, Father”. Sometimes when we are hurting in some way, it is very comforting to have someone listen to us, to care enough about us to sit and listen, even though there may not be any answers; it is the listening that matters. A Stephen Minister is trained to listen. The Stephen Minister does not have the answers, but many times it is okay not to have the answers; what matters is the caring.I encourage you to look into Stephens Ministry if you are hurt in some way and need someone to be there for you, just to listen.Jesus asks all of us to love one another; a Stephen Minister is a response to the Lord’s call that we love one another.

Stephen Minister Training 2011-12

Stephen Ministry is intended for adults experiencing difficulties in all areas of life—from loss of a loved one to loneliness. God did not mean for any of his children to face difficulties alone. That is why we volunteer our time to help one another. The caring relationships we arrange can be short or long term. We pair men with men and women with women, in a one-to-one confidential arrangement.

For Stephen Ministry to be effective we must have enough trained ministers of both sexes. A new Stephen Minister class will be starting in the fall. Please prayerfully consider becoming a volunteer. For information contact Ann Plaza or Fr. Don at 719-481-3511.
